The Handwork Fire
photo
As most of you already know, our cooperative craft store in Ithaca, Handwork, and my main avenue for selling my jewelry has suffered a fire. For information, check out the Ithaca Journal links below:

We don't know when we will be able to open the store again--it might be as long as a few months. We may open a temporary location in the mean time so check our website for news!

Until then, my jewelry is available directly from me (see my contact page) or at Thou Art Gallery in Groton, NY.

See you all soon!

Virtualities

Hey. So...in the process of looking for ways to promote my website, which is actually more fun than finishing my website (or doing laundry it turns out), I have put profiles up on MySpace and Friendster. So check me out and add me as a friend! You'll also find out silly things about me that I probably don't want you to know....

Also, my new enameled jewelry is now at Handwork. Come see it. :-)

Back in Ithaca

Well I'm back from NYC and reminding myself how excited I was to have 90 degree days--therefore, no complaints here! I went swimming in the lake today and once again was reminded why I love this place so much.

If you had stopped in to Handwork and found my shelves miserably empty, don't worry--they're stocked again.

At the 92nd Street Y in NYC I learned tons of stuff, mainly enameling and wax carving, so soon I hope to introduce new product lines in both. I highly recommend some of the teachers if anyone is interested in taking classes there. Any class with Honey Jean Laber will be great. Alan Brodsky is the man to learn wax carving from, as well as industry stuff in general. I also really enjoyed my classes with Klaus Burgel and Tamako Ferguson.

My original mentor in Mexico, the extraordinary Billy King, also has a new website for anyone looking to learn from the source: www.sterlingquestschool.com

I don't know when I'll be back at market, but until then, feel free to contact me with any questions. See you all soon.

Always the gypsy...

Well since the last entry, I have moved....although I'd like to think I am all settled once again. However, I won't be giving classes for a while, since my new place is very small.

I am extremely sick of this weather! When is Spring/Summer coming? I can't wait to see you all at the Farmer's Market in our little summer dresses, wiping the dew from our faces and complaining bitterly about the heat!

This summer, I will not be selling at the Ithaca Festival. So if you want to find my jewelry during the event, just go to Handwork. I hope to enjoy the festivities this year, for once, without being stuck behind my booth.

During May and June I will be mostly in NYC taking technical jewelry classes. I'm planning on getting my feet wet in previously unexplored territory like goldsmithing and enamelling. So I probably won't be at the Market until July...although I could pop in once or twice.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions: draya@drayadesigns.com

New Studio, New Website
I'm all settled into my new studio on East Shore Drive and I'm set up to give classes again.  Yea!   I am redoing my website one page at a time, so please excuse any confusion.  I am trying to simplify the format and update it more regularly.  I hope this space will become a way for me to update my customers on my new designs and let you all know about where I will be exhibiting my jewelry in the next few months.  So keep tuning in...
